Our Team

Tim McLennan
With over 30 years in the AEC industry, Tim has accrued a broad range of public and private sector experience, but specializes in private real estate development. He oversees the Faction operation and guides our strategic direction. Tim is a proponent of sustainable design and has presented his projects at conferences such as Building Saskatchewan Green 2011 and the CaGBC National Conference 2012. He is an advocate of the use of wood in construction and was a speaker on the Wood Design conference luncheon series throughout BC in 2011 and again in 2014. Tim continues to participate in guest lecturing, webinars, and speaking engagements in support of the Mass Timber Demonstration Program in BC. He is a member of the Athabasca University RAIC Centre for Architecture Program Advisory Committee and a past member of the Lean Construction Institute of Canada Council.

Michael Hoffman
Michael provides strategic guidance and integrated oversight of our development and construction initiatives facilitating the delivery of services to a broad spectrum of investors and owners of commercial, recreational, and institutional real estate. Over the past 25 years, he has represented blue chip clients throughout Western Canada and has established himself as a trusted professional in the development world. On many of his projects, Michael has gone beyond the traditional role of project management and has been directly involved in construction delivery. He is interested in exploring innovative materials and methods and was a speaker on the Wood Design conference luncheon series throughout BC in 2014. Michael is a past board member of the Okanagan chapter of the Urban Development Institute.

Avi Thiessen
Avi has a broad depth of experience ranging from private sector construction management to public sector project management. He further developed his skills with a large multi-national engineering consultancy and evolved into a regional leadership position with oversight and quality control responsibilities. With a goal to further develop his leadership skills focusing on business growth and management, Avi is responsible for oversight of FPI operations.

Alec Warrender
After completing his Masters in Urban Planning degree at Dalhousie University Alec started working as an urban planner. He has more than a decade of planning and real estate experience in municipal government. During this time he earned his Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the Sauder School of Business and became more interested in technical real estate and development. He has a strong project management background and a thorough understanding of the development approval process. Alec helps guide Faction through various planning, development and real estate activities. He continues to use his passion for urban planning and real estate development to help facilitate positive growth. On a corporate level, Alec leads FPI internal culture providing HR, Marketing, and Business Development oversight.

Amy Lievers
With over 20 years experience in the architecture and design industry, Amy leads the Faction architectural practice. She has been involved in a wide range of project types including an established background in emergency services, religious buildings, institutional, commercial and high rise residential. She also has a strong interest in sustainability and, aside from being Passive House Certified, has worked on many LEED® projects, advocating sustainable design principles throughout her work. Amy has been a coordinator and mentor with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Syllabus Program since 2014.

Neil Holmes
Neil enjoys working with Clients and seeing blueprints of everyone’s efforts become reality. With over 25 years experience in the architectural industry, he has developed a well-rounded skill set. Neil focuses on general operations, client relations, project scope development, production, and contract administration. He believes in the team concept and that a project is better served when all parties are aligned in a singular purpose and are diligent in meeting the objectives.

Stacy Smith
Stacy is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a broad background and a multi faceted skill set. She leads our administrative team and is responsible for the smooth, efficient functioning of our office through a range of managerial, financial, human resources, and administrative tasks. Her experience, flexibility and professionalism provides stability and support to a diverse office environment.

Andrea Loewen
Andrea brings a comprehensive, end-to-end perspective to construction and project delivery, supporting integrated teams from early planning through execution and close-out. As Manager, Integrated Delivery, she focuses on aligning people, processes, and information to create clarity, reduce risk, and support confident decision-making throughout the life of a project.
Known for her collaborative approach and clear communication, Andrea helps teams navigate complexity while maintaining accountability, quality, cost and schedule certainty. She is deeply invested in the success of both projects and people, and is motivated by contributing to a strong, inclusive construction community – particularly by encouraging and supporting those exploring a career in the industry.

Bruno Carneiro
Bruno has 20 years of experience in heavy infrastructure, building construction and project management. This experience includes planning, estimating, scheduling, monitoring and controlling the budget and timeline of construction projects, monitoring progress and efficiency of contractors, progress report writing and presentation, solving contract and operational issues dealing with clients, suppliers and contractors. He is an engaged and earnest construction manager and team leader.

Dana Hergott
In her role as leader of the FPI Development Management team, Dana has contributed to the success of a variety of projects including commercial, hospitality, retail, and not-for-profit facilities. Acting as an owner’s representative, she manages projects throughout their lifecycle; from concept through to operation. Dana is well versed in project scope development, procurement, scheduling, site administration, value engineering, stakeholder management and design/engineering management. Dana looks to exceed client expectations, having a proactive attitude towards each project. She excels in creating a collaborative environment with strong communication between team members. Her goal is to work closely with owners, consultants and constructors to ensure the final project is truly what was envisioned; and to deliver the project with the best possible scope, time and cost outcome.

Ryan Cuddeford
Ryan’s international design training and unique perspective serve him well in his focus on design excellence throughout the lifespan of a project. His inherent benevolence allows him to navigate complex processes and relationships with rational yet elegant results. He is a perfectionist in all aspects of his life and work and is always motivated to invent new solutions to every problem.

Crystal Johnson
Crystal Johnson is an experienced finance professional based in Kelowna, BC, with a strong background in accounting, financial management, and operational leadership. She has served in senior finance roles supporting organizations across a range of industries with strategic planning, financial reporting, budgeting, and process improvement. Crystal brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to finance, combining technical expertise with a clear understanding of business operations. She has extensive experience overseeing full-cycle accounting, managing teams, optimizing internal controls, and providing leadership with actionable financial insights.

Andrea Van Niekerk
Andrea is a true professional who brings with her 20 years of architectural experience from across Canada and encompassing prestigious resorts in the UK/Europe. She has worked on wide-ranging projects encompassing large multi-residential condos and five star hotels and resorts. With a keen attention to detail and a passion for architecture, Andrea holds high standards for her work; is ‘quality’ focused, and displays a service level and accountability that serves as an example for the project teams that she leads.

Blaine McNaueal
Blaine McNaueal has worked on several architectural projects of various types and complexities from design development through to construction. Blaine is experienced in a number of design and drafting programs as well as 3D modeling and visual rendering software. After working for 6 years in a structural engineering firm, Blaine also gained extensive training as a technologist within that discipline. As a result of his diverse experience Blaine enjoys the practice of integrated design throughout projects, from the conceptual, down to the nuts and bolts that make up a building.

Bruce Chapman
As follow-up to his corporate experience within organizations such as Cadillac Fairview, Westin Hotels and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Bruce formed Target Project Management Inc. to provide professional Development Management consulting services to the commercial development industry in 1999. Active business sectors over the last twenty years include institutional, hospitality, residential, not-for-profit and retail. Working under the Faction brand since 2023 his focus includes a blend of local and international projects that vary greatly in terms of scope, size and complexity. He has proven his ability to bring projects in on time, on budget and to the highest standards of quality workmanship.

Bruce Walker
With over 40 years experience in the industry, Bruce has gained a vast amount of experience in the delivery of complex civil, industrial, institutional, commercial and residential projects. Bruce’s duties have focused on estimating, project management, design management and strategic planning. In addition to a background in engineering, Bruce has achieved Goal Seal Designation as a Project Manager with the Canadian Construction Association and was also a Registered Quantity Surveyor with the Quantity Surveyor’s Association of British Columbia.

Cheriese Dupuy
Cheriese has more than 20 years of accounting and financial administration experience. She has extensive experience in financial reporting, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and process improvement, providing dependable support to both project and corporate operations. Known for her attention to detail and strong organizational skills, Cheriese is committed to delivering accurate financial information and helping maintain efficient, effective processes that support the success of the operations team.

Dan Paul
Dan has been working in the industry as an architectural technologist since 1999. Dan has a great sense of community and brings this skill into the office to enhance and improve community relationships. He leads the construction documentation and consultant coordination on projects out of the Grande Prairie office. Dan has a great sense of collaboration and shares his knowledge of building envelope science and his ability to translate those principles into buildable construction details with the rest of the team.

Dave Skaret
Dave has worked in the building and architectural industry for over 30 years, consistently providing clients with on-time and on-budget projects at completion. His continued success is based on the development of client and industry relationships. With his experience he has enjoyed a variety of management roles to facilitate all aspects of development including project scope, budget preparation, scheduling, construction documentation, tendering and site administration. He also manages on-going negotiations with contractors prior to, and during project construction. Dave excels at facilitating all phases of development in a collaborative and efficient manner adding value to each project.

Denis Di Pasquale
Denis is a result-oriented and hands-on construction & development professional with over 30 years of experience in all facets of the construction industry. He is well versed in contract negotiations, project estimating, impending design challenges, document preparation, building code regulations, material procurement and site management.

Donna McQuaig
Donna is part of the administration team and provides integral support to the Alberta offices in all areas including accounting, administration and construction administration. With over 30 years experience working in an architectural office her extensive knowledge and history in the industry helps the team remain innovative and current in our operational practices

Dwayne Letiec
Dwayne values teamwork, accountability and open dialogue and his innate ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is integral to the success of the projects in which he is a part of. Dwayne’s rich history of over 30 years in the construction industry as a Red Seal Carpenter began early in his life when he started working as a labourer on a construction site. His supervisory roles on various types of projects from infrastructure, hospitality, institutional, retail, and commercial has equipped him with strong leadership and extensive knowledge that serves projects from conceptual design to project closeout.

Ed Zukowski
Involved from the beginnings of design through to contract administration, Ed has had the privilege of working on a wide range of projects varying from places of worship, hospitality venues, infrastructure projects and even a vintage automobile museum. With 30 years of experience in the architectural industry, Ed’s role includes general design oversight throughout the life of a project. He is also directly involved day to day with the client, team members and a wide range of consultants and collaborators.

Jocelyn Loskot
Jocelyn is an Architectural Technologist with over a decade of experience in the Architectural industry. Over the years she has had the privilege of working on a variety of unique commercial, industrial, hospitality, and institutional projects. Jocelyn has a wide range of experience in all project phases including design, production drawings, contract administration, and client relations. Her attention to detail is evident and she especially enjoys working collaboratively with all project team members to ensure successful projects.

Joe Morkos
Joe has been a team member at our Kelowna office for over 5 years and his work experience involves preliminary studies, site analysis and conceptual design rationale with the goal of achieving a sustainable project that positively impacts the community. He approaches design with a creative and critical eye, balancing form and functionality while adhering to different bylaw requirements and striving to maintain expectations during construction and the later stages of a project’s life. Joe received his Bachelor of Architecture from Notre-Dame University – Lebanon and is currently a Lebanese Architect and an Intern Architect in British Columbia.

Kenneth Andres
Kenneth was raised in the Grande Prairie area and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Alberta and then followed up with his Architectural Technology Diploma at NAIT in 2019. Since then, he returned home and has been assisting the Grande Prairie team with a variety of projects including a large townhouse development in Prince George BC, renovations to the local mall, a new EMS station in Valleyview AB and expansions to Northern Lights College daycares in Dawson Creek and Chetwynd BC. Kenneth supports the team with his extensive computer knowledge including rendering programs and 3d modeling skills.

Ken Nguyen
Ken is an accounting professional with over seven years of public accounting experience across a diverse range of industries. He has transitioned into an industry role to support the company’s strategic financial and operational objectives. His role includes corporate, property advisory, and project accounting functions, including payroll, and brings a strong technical foundation along with a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to financial reporting and operational efficiency.

Margaret Foster
Margaret is a dedicated Senior Project Coordinator with over three decades of service in the construction industry, having been involved in residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Her extensive experience covers a wide range of responsibilities, including project planning, contract administration, safety, and quality control. Throughout her career, Margaret has demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and a deep commitment to maintaining high standards on every project. She is particularly passionate about sharing her knowledge with colleagues and fostering a collaborative work environment. Her hands-on approach and practical knowledge make her an invaluable asset to any construction team, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

Matt van Goor
Matt has been in the construction industry in various capacities for the past 20 years and has developed into a Senior Project Manager with Faction Construction. He has a broad array of experience that includes estimating, construction management and project closeout. Matt is solutions oriented and has developed a reputation as a collaborative professional that looks for innovative ways to plan and deliver projects.

Merlin Everett
Merlin is a skilled project coordinator with a passion for sustainable design and green architecture. His greatest interest is in built environments which use locally sourced natural materials in its unaltered form. He has a strong track record of directing and managing projects from the Prime Consultant’s perspective and has recently made the transition to the owner’s side as a member of our Development Management team.

Mhairi Marcella
In her role as Administrative Assistant, Mhairi is a key component of our administrative team. After graduating university with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing for Internet & Multimedia in Scotland, she jumped the pond to live her Canadian dream where she says its great to have 4 actual seasons of the year rather than 1 “dreary, rainy, occasional sunny but yet foggy and snowy season!” She has 25 years experience in customer service and has provided support in administration, accounting, online security, and marketing.

Nicole Green
Nicole started in the administration side of the construction industry in 2006. Her ability to be resourceful and multitask has given her the soft skills required to succeed in the fast-paced construction industry. Nicole has broad industry experience having worked both in the office and on site. As a Project Administrator she continues to immerse herself in learning and contributing with the Faction Construction team.

Peter Thompson
Through many years of experience in the Architectural industry, Peter has worked on diverse projects varying in size, typology, and complexity. He has a technical proficiency while preparing construction documents which has given him extensive knowledge of building construction systems, materials, building codes & specifications required to lead projects. Peter has worked on several projects requiring varying levels of LEED certification. He has also been a leader in advancing the use of Building Information Modeling and imparting his experience and knowledge with those around him.

Rob Schmalzl
With over 22 years in the Architectural and Interior Design industry, 35 years as a certified painter and 4 years as a certified commercial radon design consultant, Rob has been directly involved in all areas of public and private design and construction. He manages the contract document creation for numerous projects within the firm and provides construction and building code related guidance to aid in effective detail development. Rob specializes in commercial office, retail, and institutional projects.

Tracey McLeod
Tracey is a professional with more than 20 years’ of project management experience. She is a strategic planner and has the experience to manage initiatives for various different project typologies. She effectively partners with and steers stakeholders through all phases of her projects.

Trevor Hunnisett
With over 27 years of experience including work with a leading global investment firm, Trevor is involved in all aspects of real estate development. He has a keen understanding of the control, pre-development, planning, construction and tenant coordination phases of the process. Trevor has a long track record of managing the delivery of complex and multi-phased real estate development projects.
