About the Project
The Alberta Court of Appeal completed construction in December of 2002. The 57,000 square foot facility located on the 26th and 27th floors of the Trans Canada Pipeline building in downtown Calgary is a sophisticated modern slant on the traditional courtroom. Working closely with the user group's expressed desires, and Alberta Infrastructure direction, the design team developed a palette of clean environmentally friendly materials, with extensive use of lacquered white and off-white millwork, highlighted by stainless steel and glass accents and careful attention to detail. The courts also feature the latest court technology video and sound systems, completely programmable high-level illumination, superb acoustic separations, and high-tech security.
