About the Project

This phase tells the North End’s industrial story while welcoming the new energy being brought to the area. This vacant warehouse building was retained, repurposed and injected with new life to support Gneiss Climbing and Faction Projects Inc. as tenants. Rather than losing this old industrial building to the revitalization being experienced in the area, it is celebrated and sustainably repurposed achieving BC Energy Step Code Level 2.

The existing load bearing concrete block structure was rehabilitated and retained as the exterior finish due to the building’s heritage value, including the Hill Security Ltd. signage! Insulation and new finishes were applied to the interior to create a high-performance building envelope. The rehabilitated exposed wooden truss roof structure and plank decking showcase the character of the existing building.
