About the Project
The project was developed in two stages. Stage one: the shell building was developed as a generic restaurant/ prototype with a Calgary based client who owned the land. Stage two: the interiors and kitchen development were done with the operators a husband-and-wife team who had worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. The scope of services covered everything from design and programming to construction review. The project takes advantage of the spectacular site at the head of Lake Windermere. Special consideration was given to flood plain criteria, preservation of a mature stand of willow trees, integration of outdoor spaces to take advantage of the extended outdoor season, views down the lake and towards the mountains, and the local history of the site.
